Xiangzhou district of Zhuhai has set up its first "Film-Friendly Neighborhood", marking a new milestone in the city's cultural and creative development. The initiative was unveiled on Jan 14 in Qingsheng Plaza, Shishan subdistrict, alongside the release of the district's first batch of open filming locations.
Shishan has long been favored by film and television productions, serving as a shooting site for well-known works such as Shaolin Soccer and The Thunder. The new neighborhood aims to transform this cultural foundation into a driver of high-quality development by offering professional, efficient, and comprehensive services for production teams.
Built on a "service-oriented" approach, the project provides one-stop support through an on-site film brokerage base, visualized service guides, filming coordinators, and preferential business policies, effectively reducing production costs while upgrading local commercial vitality. A searchable database of diverse filming resources — from urban streetscapes to everyday community life — has also been established.
Looking ahead, the neighborhood will focus on developing a community-based performance hub, hosting outdoor screenings, film salons, and short-video training programs. By exploring integrated models such as "film + culture and tourism" and "film + commerce," Shishan is set to become a film culture landmark representing the vibrant image of Xiangzhou and Zhuhai.
