Beishan village in Nanping town, Xiangzhou district, Zhuhai city, was recently nominated for the fourth batch of Guangdong province's cultural and tourism characteristic villages.
That's made it the only village in Xiangzhou district to receive the distinction.
Beishan village's renewal project started on Oct 7, 2023, covering a total area of 14,860 square meters.
The project features Beishan Square above ground and a public parking complex underground. Recently, the parking facility started operating, providing 281 parking spaces.
Additionally, the Beishan Music Plaza recently opened. It will center around the Beishan Music Festival, regularly hosting diverse cultural performances.
The Intangible Cultural Heritage Plaza has also been completed. Currently, the plaza is hosting the Zhuhai Intangible Cultural Heritage Market, displaying 40 representative items such as Beishan specialty foods and traditional Chinese crafts. The event runs until the end of the month.
Beishan is a village with a rich recorded history spanning 780 years. Since 2007, it's attracted enterprises to revitalize its ancient buildings.
