Xiangzhou joins ranks of top 100 innovative districts

Xiangzhou district, well recognized in terms of its innovation capacity, innovation environment, services, market subjects, and effectiveness, has ranked 30th among China’s innovative districts this year. 

In 2023, a large number of new enterprises were settled in the Xiangzhou district, encompassing 16 "small giant" enterprises, 121 provincial-level specialized and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), 204 hi-tech enterprises, and four listed enterprises.

The GDP of Xiangzhou totaled 185.48 billion yuan ($25.6 billion), accounting for more than 40 percent of Zhuhai’s total GDP. Its value added of industries above the designated size reached 50.215 billion yuan while its market players exceeded 200,000.

Smart home appliances, photoelectricity, and new generation of information technology predominate in the district’s industries. Wherein, Nanping Science and Technology Industrial Park contributes more than 70 percent of the total industrial output value designated size, with annual output value exceeding 120 billion yuan last year.

Xiangzhou has initiated the building of an innovation pattern featuring full geographical coverage, a complete industrial launch, and full-cycle incubation. It will use no less than 20 percent of the land revenue to develop science and technology innovation and related projects, aiming to promote two or three influential technologies and products in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
