The black swans and ducks that glide on the waters of Haibin Park pond in Jida will soon be accompanied by white swans and mandarin ducks that reportedly are now being shipped.
The new wildlife will add more vibrancy to the newly renovated park, where humans, fish, and fowl coexist.
The 40 year-old public garden is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Zhuhai. Situated in Jida between Xianglu Bay and Jiingshan Park, it is easily accessible to hundreds of residents and overflows with tourists during holidays. The new round of upgrades and renovations was initiated in May so that everyone could celebrate its fourth decade.
Refurbished Haibin Park entrance
According to Zhuhai Yuehua Landscaping Construction management, a new asphalt pavement surface covers 10,000 sq m (2.5 acres). Each pathway has fast and slow lanes distinguished by red and black surfaces and stenciled paintings of strollers or joggers.
The park's hybrid grass has been replaced with a pure lawn. Its 20,000 sq m (5 acres) of open space have turned the landscape into a "green oxygen bar."
Also improved is the main entranceway where esthetic landscape stones, seasonal flowers, and green plants have been added, as have street lamps.
Water birds are friendly and photogenic
In addition, the 2,500 sq m (.62 acres) of parking area was leveled and paved, with the number of spaces increased to 143. The parking fee is two yuan (30 cents) per hour.
A second phase of improvements will soon begin. It is to include the design and development of agricultural landscape, overall renovation of the central pond island, and further upgrades to landscapes and facilities.
