Wanda Studio will open eight movie halls with RealD's Ultimate Screen and Dolby Atmos sound technology when Hengqin International Commercial Center Phase III is completed in 2025.

The location at the intersection of East Ring (Huandao) Road and Gang'ao Avenue is five minutes' walk from Hengqin Checkpoint and Hengqin MRT station. The project is in the initial stage of construction. Floor space there for Hengqin New Area's second movie theater is estimated at 4,000 sq m (1 acre) on three floors.

The project grew from Wanda Film Holding's cooperation with a subsidiary of Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Property. According to their agreement, a highlight is Prime Huge Screen Hall, which should deliver a stunning viewing experience courtesy of AMC Entertainment, a US movie theater chain now owned by Wanda Group.

Hengqin International Commercial Center is a new-type commercial complex integrating production, research, exhibition, education, and business with total floor space of nearly 1 sq km (247 acres). The first phase has already opened.

Wanda Film Holdings, China's largest movie-theater chain by outlet, was established in 2005 as a unit of real estate conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group Co. By the end of 2018, the company had 595 direct movie theaters and 5,279 screens, and had grossed a domestic box office of 7.98 billion yuan ($1.16 billion) and recorded attendance of 210 million. It has led the domestic movie industry in terms of box office, movie attendance, and market share for many years. 

Wanda Cinema

Another Hengqin cinema -- China Film Cinema -- will open this fall at the Portuguese-style commercial complex Legend Ponto Square.
