A working conference is held on June 20 to advance the construction of public kindergartens in Xiangzhou District.

As of now, the district is home to 163 kindergartens and 40,973 preschoolers. However, only 12 of these schools are publicly funded, which enroll 4,112 students.

It is expected that there will be more than 50 public kindergartens in Xiangzhou providing high-quality education for over 20,000 students by 2021.

To date, five of the 33 purposed kindergartens had already launched construction in Haojing, Haiyu, Gree Square, Licheng, and Sanwan, with work on one of them, Jianmin Kindergarten, being completed.

Covering 5,000 sq m (5,980 sq yd), the kindergarten is located at the north of West Renmin Road and east of Jianmin Road. It will set up 12 classes capable of accommodating 420 students, while offering diversified courses related to music, dance, handwork, science, language, and more.

Not only is it equipped with science, art, and multi-functional classrooms, but it is the first-of-its-kind in the city with an underground divergence center to separate vehicles from foot traffic. The kindergarten, which will come into operation this September, has already started enrolling students.

As planned, work on eleven more kindergartens will begin this year, 10 in 2020, and seven in 2021.
