China Aoyuan Group Ltd, a real estate titan founded in Guangzhou in 1996 and listed on the in Stock Exchange of Hong Kong in 2007, has been expanding its business in Zhuhai and helping with the city's urban development.

Old towns, villages and factories throughout Zhuhai have taken on a new look with Aoyuan rural transformation projects.

For instance, the company launched a project to transform the Old Meixi Industrial Zone into Aoyuan Plaza in 2015. The commercial complex, which was in operation by July 2018, houses a number of fashionable brands, as well as Zhuhai's first indoor real-ice rink. Customer volume exceeded 300,000 people in the first two days of its opening alone, and the plaza is now a local Xiangzhou landmark.

In addition, China Aoyuan Group Ltd has been active in charity work to fulfill its social responsibility. It donated 15 million yuan ($2 million) to aid in the reconstruction after Typhoon Hato last summer, built music classrooms for the children of migrant workers, subsidized underprivileged students and organized charity activities along with the red cross society and women's federation.

Such practices, in return, have brought the company a number of accolades, including Benchmark Chinese Real Estate Enterprise in Poverty Alleviation and Most Influential Charity Enterprise in Guangzhou.
