The 2019 "Xiangzhou Craftsman" Skills Competition is underway at Nanping Science & Technology Plaza in Xiangzhou District through the end of September with participants vying in several categories of more than a dozen skills.

Featuring elements of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Xiangshan Talent initiative, this year's event rolled out the Xiangbu Flavor brand on June 4 and also promotes the Cantonese Cuisine Master Program.

Targeting international and municipal contests, the event focuses on Xiangzhou's high-end manufacturing and hi-tech projects. CAD Mechanical Engineering Design and Tea Specialist competitions have been added as the complexity of Print Consumables and E-Commerce Graphic Design has increased.

First-prize winners from Xiangzhou enterprises will be awarded 50,000 yuan ($7,240) -- ten times last year's prize. They will be titled "Xiangzhou Craftsmen" and enlisted in the Xiangshan Talent Program. Each prize winner will receive a Certificate of Honor and those eligible can obtain China's National Vocational Qualification Certificates.

Sponsored by the Xiangzhou District People's Government, the "Xiangzhou Craftsman" Skills Competition has been held each year since 2016. It carries forward the craftsmanship spirit with pursuit of higher quality and greater innovations.
