Refined landscape spruces up Xiangzhou

Pepper, tomato, pumpkin and pawpaw are among the crops that have been planted at the Xiangshan Lake Park in New Xiangzhou. Taking up a space of 800 sq m (.2 acres), the new additions are bringing some unexpected serenity in the midst of the urban hustle and bustle.

Also in the city, the median strip of Zhuhai Avenue has replaced its seasonal flowers with corns and paddy, adding a rustic touch that is also cost-efficient.

This came in response to Zhuhai government's requirements to refine the management of city landscaping, a concept which is also reflected in the practices of reasonable transplanting.

Typhoons over the past two years have broken tree limbs, lowered the soil, torn up plants and toppled trees, with Xiangzhou Avenue, Jiuzhou Avenue and other artery roads bearing the brunt of the damage. Many of their trees have now been transplanted to Xiangshan Lake Park or nurseries for better conservation and management.

To ensure growth, project operator Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings has hired professionals to check the crops and trim the transplanted trees regularly.
