Opera House, Grand Theatre announce performances

Jazz, Bohemian rhythms, fairy-tale dramas, and baroque music for all ages and tastes are billed at Zhuhai Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre in Shizimen Central Business District and Zhuhai Opera House on Yeli Island this month.

Steve Smith quartet

Steve Smith is an iconic jazz drummer who has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide over the past 30 years. His drumming, while decidedly modern, is best described as a style that embodies the history of US music.

Modern Drummer readers voted Smith the Number 1 All-Around Drummer from 1987 to 1991, and the magazine recognized him as one of the Top 25 Drummers of All Time in 2001. He was selected into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2002.

Smith set up his jazz/fusion brand Vital Information in 1983, consisting of keyboardist Mark Soskin, bass player Baron Browne, and guitarist Vinny Valentino. Fond of swing, rhythm, and creativity, they seek to surprise each other on stage every night with new ideas and allow the audience to "live in the moment" with them.
