A TV series by China Central Television (CCTV) in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland came under production in Hengqin New Area on April 15.
The 36-episode Wān Wān de Dà Wān (弯弯的大湾), is a romance about ordinary people who have grown up and struggled for two decades since the return of Macao to the Chinese mainland. Behind love affairs and entrepreneurial hardship, the film will display the prosperity of Macao and the Greater Bay Area under the principle of One Country, Two Systems.
The heroine, Wang Yuanke, was in a film shoot in Zhuhai 13 years ago. Wang, 35, from Shandong Province, said she looks forward to showing the vigorous development of the Greater Bay Area through her interpretative work.

Wang plays a Macao Dan-clan girl in a commercial society rife with setbacks and opportunities. Highlighted will be the character's work experience in the Zhuhai-Macao Cross-Border Industrial Zone, Hengqin, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and a state key laboratory in Macao. Staging Macao as background, some scenes will be shot in Zhuhai and nearby.
According to director Zhou Haijun, the TV series will premiere around Dec 20 -- the anniversary of Macao's return. Then it will be televised on regional channels and online video platforms Youku, Tencent Video, and iQIYI. There will also a Portuguese version to promote cultural exchanges.
Wān Wān de Dà Wān is the first TV series produced by institutions in Macao and Guangdong as a joint production.
