The once-famous Qiaoyuan Hotel in Zhuhai will be superseded by a multi-level platform offering views of mountains, seas, and lakes.
Engineers have begun dismantling the hotel, and construction on the new platform will officially commence in May.
With a planned area of 35.34 hectares, the project will form an unbroken expanse of landscapes by connecting Lovers Avenue, Xianglu Bay, and Habin Beach. Construction work will be carried out in two phases, with Phase I slated for completion in December next year and Phase II due for completion by the end of 2022.
Also planned are 500 indoor parking spaces, with nine spaces for buses. Roads and sidewalks will also be built to increase safety and convenience.
The viewing platform is expected to join Yeli Island and Yinkeng Peninsula to become another landmark of Zhuhai, according to a designer.
