Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

The year 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Zhuhai City and Xiangzhou District's updated look and rapid development, which were celebrated in a creative video played during a grand celebration on March 5.

Xiangzhou, an urban area in Zhuhai, houses the majority of the city's population due to its high-quality living conditions and working environment. Keeping up-to-date with development trends, the district has been able to attract high-quality projects and top-notch talents, making it one of the most wealthy areas in the city.

Last year, Xiangzhou spent 450 million yuan ($67 million) supporting industrial development. That same year, 194 more companies identified as China's High & New-Technology Enterprises sprung up in the area, bringing the total number of such companies to 788, about 38.3 of the city's total. Gree Electric Appliances of Zhuhai was honored as China's most influential innovator in the field of intellectual property.

To further promote innovation-driven development, Xiangzhou will subsidize R&D expenses for its top 50 companies in terms of comprehensive innovation capacity and growth potential. A platform is also planned to help experts overcome technical hurdles for enterprises. The subsidies will be provided by the local government.

Xiangzhou is also showing full support for telecom operators currently testing 5G, as the mobile technology is expected to play a major role in industrial digitalization.
