Xiangzhou holds traditional Lantern Festival celebrations

Vibrant celebrations giving people a chance to solve riddles and admire folk art, song-and-dance performances, and lanterns made the Lantern Festival a memorable affair for the people of Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai.

The traditional festival takes place on the 15th day of the first lunar month, falling on Feb 19 this year. It marks the end of Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.

Elderly performers dressed in traditional costumes entertain onlookers in Nanping Town. They are part of a folk art parade with over 150 participants performing lion, drum, and dragon dances.

Residents of Huafa Community, Nanping Town crouch down under some lanterns to carefully read riddles. Solving lantern riddles is an indispensable part of Lantern Festival celebrations.
