The maiden performance of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), Scotland's national symphonic ensemble, will dominate Zhuhai's big New Year celebration at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center (CEC) on Dec 31.

The New Year's concert will be directed by Danish conductor Thomas Sondergard, who was appointed RSNO Music Director last year. The RSNO performs regularly in concert halls throughout Scotland, and has appeared at the Edinburgh International Festival and the BBC Proms at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The orchestra has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its recordings. For example, it has received two Diapason d'Or de l'année Awards for Symphonic Music for its Roussel Symphonies (Naxos) and orchestral works by Debussy (Chandos) over the last decade.

The celebration will include bonfire parties, light shows and fireworks. The landmark Zhuhai International CEC is sure to provide a great venue for ringing in the New Year, according to a manager of Huafa Group.
