The world's first LED-based flight simulator, an ultra-realistic flying experience for air crew training, has been pioneered by China Electronics Technology Group Corp (CETC).
The device was unveiled before a crowd at the 12th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, which was held from Nov 6 to 11 in Jinwan District, Zhuhai.
The simulator immerses would-be pilots in a fully enclosed cockpit. First-in-class light emitting diode display technology presents high-resolution database images on a quaquversal (sloping downward in all directions from center) screen stably and consistently, due to advanced image processing.

Nanjing Lopu, a subsidiary of CETC's 14th Research Institute, developed the display technique and super hi-vision spherical vector image transformation technology. It is combined with a flight simulation system by Beijing-based Seastars.
Lopu general manager Shen Xiaobing said the product is specially developed for training air-force pilots, civil aviators, aircraft designers, and inspectors.
The simulator will also be used at sci-tech museums, aviation experience halls, youth palaces, and middle and-primary school aviation laboratories.
The military-civilian integration product was among 100 exhibits in Hall 2, which showed the latest achievements in defense electronics, information security, and public safety.
