A scientific and technological competition is being held in Xiangzhou District to spur innovation in big data, cloud computing, mobile internet, and artificial intelligence and other industries in line with Zhuhai's developmental directions.

The 2018 Xiangzhou District Sci-tech Innovation Competition has already attracted more than 30 projects since opening in September.

An eye-catching project provides technical solutions for one-stop intelligent hotel services which allow opening a door via phone using the Bluetooth function. It is developed by Zhuhai Jinzhima Techonlogy.

The 2018 Xiangzhou District Sci-tech Innovation Competition opens on Sept 28. 

The organizers are expecting more applicants from around the globe with chances to win big prizes and turn their profitable businesses into reality.

On offer is 1.16 million yuan ($181,528) in prize money plus investment up to 50 million yuan, not to mention the favorable policy treatment as an additional benefit.

The competition embraces creative ideas targeting high-end manufacturing including smart homes, office automation, wearable devices, and intelligent equipment manufacture, according to a spokesperson. Precision healthcare, regenerative medicine, new-type drugs, and high-performance medical apparatus are also welcomed.

Participants will compete in separate groups of innovation and startups in Zhuhai Division and get to present their business plans. Contestants in the Startup Group can choose to participate in Chongqing and Fuzhou divisional competitions to quality for the preliminary contest held in Xiangzhou. Semi-finals will follow closely before the final round takes place in December. Innovation Group qualifiers standing out from the preliminary contest will directly make it to the final around, according to the rules.

The competition will produce one winner in the Innovation Group and a reward of 100,000 yuan, and two runners-up, three in third place, each granted with rewards of 50,000 yuan and 30,000 yuan. There will be six places for the Excellence Award which will bring a prize of 10,000 yuan.

To win more lucrative prizes provided for the Startup Group, contestants will have to face more fierce competition. The winner will take home 300,000 yuan, and the two runners-up and the three in third place will be given 150,000 yuan and 50,000 yuan each. Incentives for six Excellence Award recipients will remain the same.
