Aoyuan Plaza

Aoyuan Plaza opened in New Xiangzhou on July 21 as yet another shopping, catering, leisure, and entertainment destination.

The 78,000-sq-m urban complex is located east of Lyuyou Road, and it includes a business area of 125,000 sq m offering more than 100 international and domestic brands. It is developed by China Aoyuan Property Group Co Ltd in Zhuhai, a Hong Kong-based commercial property enterprise.

A project head introduced that the complex was built on old industrial sites, one of multiple successful renovations of dilapidated and idle factories in the district.

In addition, the project generates 2,000 jobs. Shareholders in local villages are expected to receive dividends of at least 35,000 yuan ($5,477), according to Meixi Stock Cooperative Company.

The second phase, to open at the end of this year, will have five floors and include Tattoo Fair, Love Zhuhai MOST, Seed Cathedral, A Bite of Lingnan and Culinary Delicacy. Proposed are fashionable fairs, music diet bars, themed bookstores, cultural & creative stores, and restaurants, among other attractions.    

Currently, Xiangzhou has 600 hectares of old industrial areas to be transformed and renovated. Realeasing the district's potential, making room for various types of businesses in line with the development directions are necessary steps that need to be taken, according to a local official.
