Gree Electric Appliances of Zhuhai granted 787 of its patents for wider applications in the first half of this year, the seventh largest among Chinese enterprises.

The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) released the list of China's top 10 enterprises regarding numbers of patent grants on July 10. On top of the list is Huawei Technologies, China's top telecoms equipment manufacturer which granted 1,775 of its patents to industry peers. Data shows that the momentum of economic innovation was positive during the first six months, reflected by the rapid increased in major intellectual property indicators. This was contributed by an increasing number of innovative companies that are thriving domestically.

Gree based Zhuhai's Xiangzhou District is one of the world's largest air conditioner manufacturers. The State-owned company innovated its way to become an industry leader with its invention applications and its number of patent grants ranking first nationwide for two straight years since 2016.
