Zhuhai's industries above the designated scale generated more than 39 billion yuan ($6 billion) in value-added from January to May, an increase of 11.3 percent over the previous five months and the third best result in Guangdong Province.

The Zhuhai Statistics Bureau reported on June 26 that the city has seen steady economic growth since the beginning of this year.

Food production, papermaking, pharmaceutical manufacturing and five other industries exceeded the city's growth rate in terms of accumulative added value. A total of 20 of 27 industries have been on the rise.

Companies of various development scales have contributed a lot to the city's economy with large, medium, and small-sized enterprises responsible for about 2.7, 3.3, and 5.3 percentage points of the total increase of industries above the designated scale.
