The matchmaking meeting for the application and promotion of dual-use technologies kicks off on June 4 at Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, in a move to promote the usage of technology on both a military and civilian level.  

Sponsored by the Zhuhai government and the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Information Commission, the two-day event is expected to attract more than 100 top-level companies and projects from across the county in the field to the south Chinese city.

On display at the meeting will be cutting-edge technologies, up-to-date products and innovative ideas. It will also serve as a platform to advance exchanges and cooperation in the cultivation of talented personnel and new technologies.

Many Zhuhai-based high-tech companies, such as Ziyan UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) Co and D-Chip Technologies Co, have also brought their state-of-art technologies and products to the event. 

One highlight of the matchmaking meeting is a roadshow by attending companies to display promising projects centering on six areas, including the new generation of information technologies, numerically-controlled machine tools and robots, aeronautic equipment, new materials and new energy resources. 

Some financial institutes are also attending the meeting to address the capital needs of many developing companies, according to Zhuhai Exhibition Group, the organizer.

The matchmaking event will help Zhuhai grab opportunities presented by the development of technology which can be used by both the military and civilians, according to an official at the Zhuhai Science, Technology, Industry, Trade & Information Technology Bureau.

"It will accelerate the integration of advantage resources and strategic emerging industries, and facilitate the construction of a platform for commercializing dual-use technologies in Zhuhai," the official added. 

Although compared with some other cities Zhuhai lags behind in some respects, such as with the number of companies and privately-owned firms in the defense industry, Zhuhai enjoys a fast growth in the emerging industries of ocean engineering equipment and emergency rescue with complete infrastructures of airports, ports and wharves.  

"Zhuhai is home to the China Airshow," Zhou Zuode, director of Zhuhai Convention and Exposition Bureau, said."With military-civilian integration deepening, the China Airshow has become a grand stage to showcase the cooperation results in this field."

The port city also set up a leadership team to explore the building of a national innovation demonstration zone for military and civilian integration in September 2017, in response to the national development strategy.
