An arts event featuring Guqin was held at the Xiangzhou Star Theater in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai on May 27. Guqin is a seven-stringed plucked instrument often called the Chinese zither. The CPC Xiangzhou District Committee, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Xiangzhou District, and the Xiangzhou Federation of Social Science Circles co-sponsored the event.

Guqin, the Chinese zither, the zenith of cultivated learning in ancient times, preceded Go, calligraphy and painting. Having long been a favorite of the literati, guqin still plays an important part in traditional Chinese etiquette and music culture. Other basic information was introduced by a guqin master during the event.

An accompanying static show displays Guqin components, guqin-making craftsmanship, music score, and related anecdotes.
