Xiangzhou District in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province has found two new ways to support local businesses.

It has opened a 24-hour hotline for enterprises that offers a "one-on-one" follow-up service to create a top business environment and high-quality facilitation of enterprise development.

The hotline, 8889899, established at the end of February this year, bridges the communication gap between government and enterprises in the most convenient, efficient manner and at the lowest cost.

The Investment Promotion Service Centre of Xiangzhou District staffs the hotline with professional team members who provide consultations, suggestions, coordination and supervision. They even join in simple reflection and listen to complaints.

Up to April 26, workers had received 153 phone calls and normally solved the problems within two working days. Issues in consultation included industrial policy, household registration, business registration, tax administration, personnel recruitment, investment and financing and dispute resolution. Xiangzhou people can voice their personal demands and ask questions without leaving the office as the 24/7 hotline is there to help.

Miss Zheng from Zhuhai Xiongdi Industrial Co Ltd said, "I really didn't expect that a phone call could help." She said that thanks to the hotline, her company obtained approval from the local environmental protection department faster than usual, in time to finish its resettlement as planned.

Mr Liu from Gree Industrial Products said "it is so convenient and efficient" as fallen trees in his factory area were cleaned up the very day he sought help through the hotline.

In the meantime, 115 civil workers in Xiangzhou now have a new identity as service specialists for around 500 enterprises district wide. They are there to further narrow the gap between government and enterprises and offer help on a one-on-one basis to key enterprises.

According to the program's design the service specialist should visit enterprises at least once a quarter, promote major strategies and measures and solve any company issues. They also need to contact company representatives at least twice a month to learn the latest circumstances and be able to provide instant feedback.

The two services are expected to play an important role in benefiting enterprises in practical ways in real time and help boost regional growth.
