Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai announced subsidization of local industrial companies for purchase of robots and intelligent equipment, to be available as of May 12, at a conference promoting its intellectual reform policies held April 18.

According to the interim procedures issued by the Science, Technology, Industry, Trade and Information Technology Bureau of Xiangzhou District, the district will allocate a special fund of 50 million yuan ($7.96 million) to support technological transformation of its industrial companies.

Award-winning companies such as the Robot Backbone (Cultivation) Company of Guangdong Province can apply for subsidies of more than 2 million yuan to purchase intelligent equipment.

For the purchase of complete sets of smart equipment, 30 percent of the actual cost (tax included) will be subsidized, up to a maximum amount of 10 million yuan per company.

Companies that purchase single-unit smart equipment will be eligible for indemnification of 20 percent of the actual purchase price (tax-included) up to 5 million yuan.

Shen Xiandong, general manager of Gree Electric Appliances of Zhuhai, said, "Our company reached an output value of 2 billion yuan last year, and the number will be largely increased with the policy support this year."
