Zhuhai Party chief Guo Yonghang pledged full support from Party committees and government departments at various levels for Gree Electric Appliances and other competitive local enterprises during an inspection tour on March 29.

A State-owned giant, Gree is one of the world's largest household air-conditioner manufacturers. Its many successful practices have been held up as models for other industry players on how to thrive in today's economic climate. According to Gree chairwoman and president Dong Mingzhu, innovation was the key to the company's many technological breakthroughs.

Xiangzhou District base, where Gree is located, contains plants manufacturing industrial robots, numerical control machinery and air conditioners, as well as a national key laboratory researching air conditioning energy-saving systems.

Guo spoke highly of Gree's tremendous success and its contributions to the city's economic development after receiving updates on the company's advances in management modes, R&D input, talent introduction, and development planning. He also stressed that rather than simply being satisfied with its current situation, Gree should always keep high expectations and continue to innovate to lead the fiercely competitive global manufacturing market. Its growth will be fully supported with timely and efficient Party and government services, he claimed.

Guo's group also visited the Zhongxing Intelligent Vehicle Manufacturing Base, now being built, and Yinlong New Energy Industrial Park in Jinwan District. An accelerated construction pace should be set for the former while the latter is encouraged to broaden its technological superiority in lithium battery design.

Economic development as a top priority calls for enhanced leadership and strong policy implementation, Guo added. As a result, supervision and assessment will be strengthened by a stricter evaluation system designed to avoid dereliction or slackness in work environments.
