Zhuhai's 2017 GDP is a staggering $40.76b

Zhuhai's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2017 was 256.473 billion yuan ($40.76 billion), a result of the city's 9.2 percent annual growth rate, according to the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
Primary industries added a value of 4.553 billion yuan to the GDP total, a year-on-year increase of 4.1 percent, contributing to GDP growth by 0.8 percent. Meanwhile, the added value of secondary industries reached 128.875 billion yuan, an annual increase of 11.6 percent, contributing 63.2 percent to GDP growth. Finally, tertiary industries added a further 123.045 billion yuan in value, an increase of 6.9 percent, contributing 36 percent to GDP growth. The ratio of the three industries was 1.8:50.2:48.
In the service industry, the added value of modern service industries reached 74.174 billion yuan, an increase of 6.2 percent, accounting for 28.9 percent of total GDP. In tertiary industries, the GDP of wholesale and retail industries grew by 6.4 percent, accommodation and catering industry increased by 4.1 percent, financial industry soared by 11.9 percent and the real estate industry decreased by 15.0 percent. The private economy added 88.692 billion yuan of value, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent, accounting for 34.6 percent of total GDP.
In 2017, Zhuhai's GDP per capita reached 149,100 yuan, equal to $22,100, while inflation was 0.8 percent.
In terms of regions, the administrative districts of Xiangzhou, Jinwan and Doumen achieved a GDP of 167.892 billion yuan, 54.412 billion yuan and 34.168 billion yuan, respectively, increasing by 8.5 percent, 10.4 percent and 10.3 percent.
Zhuhai was able to garner 31.438 billion in terms of general public budget revenue for 2017, an increase of 10.4 percent over the previous year. Meanwhile, general public budget expenditure reached 49.389 billion yuan, an increase of 18.4 percent. Education expenditure accounted for 7.422 billion yuan, an increase of 29.6 percent. Science and technology expenditure was 4.530 billion yuan, an increase of 28.6 percent. Expenditures for culture, sports and media reached 770 million yuan, an increase of 22.3 percent. Social security and employment expenditures were 5.759 billion yuan, an increase of 47.1 percent. Health expenditure was 2.781 billion yuan, an increase of 24.6 percent. Energy-saving environmental protection expenditure was 1.726 billion yuan, an increase of 70.3 percent.
Nine items of expenditure covering people's livelihood such as education, science and technology, health care, energy conservation and environmental protection, urban and rural community affairs, agriculture, forestry and water affairs and housing security totaled 35.429 billion yuan, up 24.7 percent year-on-year, accounting for 71.7 percent of the city's general public budget expenditure.
In 2017, Zhuhai adhered to the principle of striving for progress in stability by implementing the innovation-driven strategy, deepening supply-side structural reforms and vigorously developing the real economy.
The continuous improvement of the quality and efficiency of economic development was also achieved. Furthermore, progress on various undertakings and major economic indicators are better than expected.
