Zhuhai-based Print-Rite Holdings Ltd (PRH) has been qualified by the China Association for Science & Technology to host the only academician workstation dedicated to the consumables industry.

The certificate was granted to the company on Dec 21 last year but it was no surprise as the world's leading general printing supplies manufacturer is seeing payoff following its continuous ongoing R&D efforts.

Print-Rite Group was established in Hong Kong in 1988 and built its first domestic factory in Xiangzhou District. The successful operation of the important base was the foundation for full-scaled development. In 2000, the group built the first consumables sci-tech park in the Chinese mainland at the Zhuhai Nanping Science & Technology Industrial Park; it continues today to integrate production, management and research.

Currently, the company has 7,000 employees and produces 1,000 products of over 10,000 types in nine categories that are exported to more than 100 countries and regions. On the product list are 3D, digital, and laser printers, toner cartridges, copiers, and color ribbons.

Staffers at Print-Rite's working line make core technologies profitable.

The company began establishing an Academician Expert Enterprise Workstation eight years ago. The workstation's consistent performance in making technological breakthroughs was praised by the Guangdong provincial government which granted it with an Excellence Award. During that period, 124 patent applications were filed and 38 new products and techniques were developed including environmentally-friendly recycled black toner cartridges.

Zhuhai is well known for its global competiveness in the printing consumables industry and has been dubbed the Print Consumables Capital of the World. According to statistics, its print companies manufacture over 70 percent of the color ribbons, 60 percent of the compatible ink cartridges, and 25 percent of the recycled laser toner cartridges in the global market.
