Flurry of measures helps employment

Updated: 2018-03-02 Print

Migrant workers in Zhuhai have been given free phone cards for communication since Feb 22, and have also been introduced to the latest recruitment information and helped in applying for their preferred jobs.

Government workers distributed leaflets at passenger stations and street corners in Xiangzhou District listing numerous selected job vacancies. Employment guidance services were available at the busy places migrant workers often visit. Personal information of those wanting to make job applications has been recorded, so that the official dates of job availability can be sent directly to applicants.

Officials from the Xiangzhou Human Resources Development & Management Service Center set up a desk on a Nanping street and were available for consultation on any point related to employment.

The action, one of many measures to promote employment, was sponsored by the Xiangzhou Human Resources Development & Management Service Center.

This year's first large public job fair was held on Feb 26 where 8,000 jobs were up for grabs, attracting some 4,000 job seekers. More are set to be held as there is a strong demand of local enterprises, especially manufacturers, for at least 3,000 new employees.

The timely service resulted from the officials' detailed understanding of enterprises' development status. The government initiated an investigation into development requirements of key enterprises at the end of last December.

Participants carefully read each job description during a job fair held in Xiangzhou District on Feb 26.

At the same time, a group of 86 students from Jiangxi Province vocational schools were transported to Xiangzhou and given an opportunity to gain practical working experience at Ninestar Corporation, a global printing and imaging products leader. Five hundred more students from outside the city are expected to start their internships there, another win-win result for both sides.

The school-enterprise-government cooperative mechanism developed by the Xiangzhou government in recent years has begun bearing fruit.
