Fifty-six senior executives of Xiangzhou key enterprises began a six-month training course organized by the local government on Jan 30.

Shen Xiandong, general manager of Gree Intelligent Equipment, and Li Guocheng, chairman of the board of Zhuhai Ansheng Phoenix Pharmaceutical, were two of the leading business representatives who enrolled to learn about frontier management methods.

What's in store for them includes experiential learning through field visits to key enterprises and scientific research institutes as well as academic exchanges at well-known schools such as the universities of Fudan, Zhejiang, and Sichuan.

Consisting of 60 lessons, the course now is now being offered for the fourth time. Unlike the previous series which focused on help for small and medium- sized sci-tech firms, this version is intended to benefit businesses of considerable size.

All the entrants were assessed as advanced, selected from industrial enterprises above a designated size, top 50 enterprises measured by taxes paid, and listed companies. They include Ninestar Corporation, a global printing and imaging products leader; Zhuhai Livzon Diagnostics Inc, a top pharma focused on in-vitro diagnostic reagents and devices; and Goldpac Secure-Card (Zhuhai), a first-class domestic payment solution provider.

Zhu Jianghong, former chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, urged accelerated cultivation of craftsmanship, which in his opinion is the key premise for technological innovation and what makes further corporate development possible.

This program is one of Xiangzhou District's measures on innovative development to expedite economic upgrading and transformation.

Next, the government will organize more frequent regular lectures and policy presentations while enhancing networking between companies, the government, and banks, according to the Science, Technology, Industry, Trade & Information Technology Bureau.
