Singing-and-dancing performances as well as comedy sketches were performed at Ningxi Cultural Plaza on Jan 25 to an audience of 1,000, bringing a successful close to Xiangzhou's year-long series of public cultural activities.

The closing ceremony started with a group dance by a local troupe from Shishan sub-district and climaxed with a sentimental "poesy recitation" with background music that touched everybody's soul.

Also staged were art works that won awards or outstanding reviews during the activity series.

It was the second time Xiangzhou has held the event, which was a big success last year. The activity series included 12 contests, featuring poetry in spring, paintings in summer, dancing in autumn and songs in winter. More than 10,000 people have introduced their artistic talents to the world in the process.

The activity was sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Xiangzhou District Committee, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Xiangzhou District, and the Xiangzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

Through various competitions and performances we want to share quality cultural resources and enrich people's lives, said a bureau official.
