Xiangzhou well prepared for surge in students

Xiangzhou District plans to add more than 15,800 places for children of school age in 2018 to better satisfy the surging need for educational resources, according to the district's education bureau, Zhuhai Daily reported on Jan 25.
Covering an overall floorage of 17,690 square meters, Beishan Primary School, which is under construction, will accommodate no fewer than 1,080 students upon completion. And the Gree-invested primary school is also scheduled to open later in August and be available for 1,620 boys and girls.
Meihua Middle School, located on the western side of Renmin Road, is progressing well and will be able to offer a further 1,800 opportunities for local children.
Thanks to the introduction of the universal "second-child" policy in 2016, Xiangzhou District will be celebrating a boom in the number of babies.

Two new kindergartens, one on Meihua Road and the other in the TOD (transit-oriented development) town, will be ready for occupancy in August, both to accommodate a total of 900 kids.
In addition, construction of four new facilities, two middle schools, one primary school and one kindergarten, is slated to begin and when completed will provide 5,580 more spaces.
An additional four schools targeting students of different ages will be established in August of next year, making room for another 4,860 children.
