The Zhuhai government will this year make a development investment of 9.7 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) especially in transportation and public facilities, a year-on-year growth of 15.2 percent.
The bulk of the money, around 7.9 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), is to be spent on major projects that have already broken ground while a smaller proportion -- 10.4 percent -- will go to new projects.
Taking up 5.4 billion yuan ($843 million), the largest proportion of the investment at 55.6 percent, transportation projects continue to be a top priority and are slated to improve the city's interior traffic network and its access to the exterior road system.
According to officials, money will be designated for the continued construction of Xianghai Bridge, Honghe Bridge, Hegang Expressway, Jinqin Expressway, Hegang Highway, and Jinqin Express Road. All those routes are part of the government's shaping of multiple east-west passageways for further urban development.

Medical and health projects will be given 394 million yuan ($61.5 million), 4.1 percent of the total investment. Scheduled targets are resettlement of the Zhuhai Women's & Children's Hospital, establishment of a center for chronic disease prevention and control and creation of a drug rehabilitation facility. Construction of a comprehensive West-Wing hospital and a radiotherapy center for Zhuhai People's Hospital is soon to commence as well, according to the government.
According to an official the capital will be allocated in a fair and reasonable way, and will also favor other fields such as rural infrastructure, culture & sports, education, urban safety, ecological protection, and public facilities.
