Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances has occupied first place in the domestic market sales of household air conditioners for 22 consecutive years with its commercial air conditioners topping the sales rankings six years in a row, Zhuhai Daily reported on Jan 15.

The manufacturing powerhouse, a State-owned enterprise, began in the Qianshan area of Xiangzhou District over two decades ago.

Evolving from a domestic Chinese home appliances manufacturer to one of the world's largest air conditioner suppliers, Gree has always drawn a great deal of attention for its inspirational development. The trend-setter's amazing achievements can be partly credited to its overall strategic vision.

The setup of the company's first overseas factory in Manaus, Brazil in 1999 is a vivid example -- it marked Gree starting point in fierce global competition and was one of China's earliest "go out" businesses.

Guided by the new leadership of Gree Group, the Zhuhai company has been accelerating its implementation of the China Made 2025 strategy since 2016 through further innovations.

Gree Group led a consortium of investors to bring about the construction of Xingye Express road. The 6.4 billion yuan ($971 million) project is the largest investment of its kind for a single project in Zhuhai history.

In the first three quarters of last year, the sales volume of household air conditioners increased by 54 percent year-on-year, which contributed to a year-on-year rise of 47 percent over the whole sector of industrial products.

Having established itself as a market-share heavyweight, the company is now eying washing machines, telecommunication equipment, and vehicle air conditioners. Huge input has also been made to advance the R&D of intelligent industrial robots.

Gree Group's next step will be to continue promoting manufacturing levels while expanding its pillars of local island tourism and financial and construction investment.
