Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Xiangzhou District turned in a good overall report for last year, Zhuhai Daily reported on Jan 15.

The district succeeded in hitting all goals set at the beginning of the year in social and economical development through pushing forward reform and carrying out the strategy of innovation-driven development.

It experienced a boom in its real economic growth and was listed as among China's Top 100 districts in industry. 

A group of projects signed to settle in the region and 14 of them announced that they had broken ground. In addition, seven projects worth five billion yuan ($777 million) completed construction and began operations on July 28, 2017.

Some industrial parks, such as Nanping Sci-tech, also gained momentum for transformation and achieved good results in both speed and quality.

Innovation is viewed as the crux of the problem and is on the top priority of the working agenda. Enterprises in the region are encouraged to improve their core competitiveness through integrating big data, internet, and artificial intelligence.

A total of 450 million yuan was invested by district authorities to stimulate passion for creativity and innovation, and a 35-billion-yuan special fund to draw talented personnel was established.

The district also organized skill contests, creating an increasingly favorable environment for innovation.

The past year also witnessed Xiangzhou becoming more open to the world with various quality products exported to overseas markets and recognition as a National-Level Quality and Safety Demonstration Zone of Exported Print Consumables.

On the other hand, Xiangzhou District also made solid efforts to improve the regional environment, strengthen infrastructure construction and speed up renovation of old villages and backward industrial areas.
