Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Xiangzhou District has been gaining repeated recognition from official authorities for its endeavors to build a socialist society with a spiritual civilization.

Last year, many organizations and communities in the district of Zhuhai harvested provincial and national honorary titles for their outstanding achievements in civilization construction.

They especially shone in bringing forward a series of innovations in social governance. 

For example, in recognition of its new-type grassroots governance the neighborhood committee of Fushi Community in Qianshan sub-district was named a Guangdong provincial civilized unit.

A project head said that the community has established an intelligent online service platform where administrators release warnings and other notices – they even provide a panoramic map of the community for new arrivals.

Not only this, the platform is capable of collecting community affairs, including any problems, for discussion through a provided online channel. The measure supplements the existing offline negotiation mechanism intended to further democratic self-governance for residents in the community, a practice based in part on the extensive experience of Macao and Hong Kong.

Social work service agencies, coordinated by Party members, also play an important role.

Recipients of similar honors in the district include Huaping Community in Gongbei, now listed as a national civilized unit, and Yang Pao’an Memorial School, recently named as a national civilized school.
