On Jan 1, 527 residents celebrated New Year's Day by pedaling around Zhuhai's Xiangzhou District in promotion of green travel.

The 13.5-km scenic ride was just one of the many activities featured at this year's Xiangzhou Greenway Carnival.

Participants ranging from cycling enthusiasts to everyday families took off from the Lovers Avenue's Love Post Office. From there they rode across the Beautiful Bay and bypassed the Dajing Mt Community Park, before finally finishing their journey at the station on Xiangshan Old Post Road.

This was the eighth iteration of the annual event. Cyclists were able to take leisure amidst ukulele melodies as they pedaled across the beautiful Haibin Beach.

Couples gathered to take selfies at the Love Post Office, as it was finally open after undergoing a series of repairs. The oval shaped building is a survivor of last year's Typhoon Hato, the strongest typhoon to hit Zhuhai in more than 53 years.

Children were able to partake in the Yoho Park's Green Careers Event for free. The budding youngsters made their first steps into the professional world as they donned the uniforms of firefighters, nurses, doctors and other professions.
