A large number of high-tech enterprises committed to smart manufacturing were featured in the Zhuhai Daily as the South China city of Zhuhaicontinues to strive for innovation-driven development and a boost toits real economy.

Eastcompeace Technology Co Ltd, now a world leading provider of smart cards and system solutions, epitomizes Zhuhai's implementation of the national strategy of Made in China 2025.

Established in 1998, Eastcompeace Technology is one of the key subsidiaries of the State-owned company China Potevio Group. Based on smart card technology, the company has been making progress in the information security industry, has the largest smart card production base in Asia and business activity in more than 80 countries and regions.

Being a traditional manufacturing enterprise, Eastcompeace Technology features a high level of automation, said vice president Chen Zongchao. "However, it took a long time from clients submitting requirement to delivering the goods."

Around two years ago, the Zhuhai-based company invested 100 million yuan ($15.31million) to launch smart manufacturing projects, utilizing advanced internet of things technologies, robots and integrated technologies to construct an intelligent manufacturing system.

"After intellectualized reconstruction, which we expect to complete in three years, Eastcompeace will better utilize its resources and greatly improve production efficiency," Chen said.

The reconstruction project has so far shortened the production cycle by half and doubled productivity.
