A summit was held in Zhuhai on Dec 10 inviting expert opinions on semi-solid metal casting technology to further develop high-end equipment manufacturing in the city.

Sponsored by Zhuhai Runxingtai Group and guided by the Science, Technology, Industry, Trade & Information Technology Bureau of Xianghou District, the summit listened to professional insights from nationwide experts. Those in attendance gave their advice on how to develop fundamental techniques so that Zhuhai can improve as an advanced equipment manufacturer.

Zhuhai Runxingtai Electrical Equipment's semi-solid forming craft was a core technology and focus of the event.

Zhuhai Runxingtai Group holds a summit on Dec 10 to draw attention to its accomplishments in developing semi-solid metal casting technology as well as attracting expert opinions from the high-end equipment manufacturing industry.

The technology is often used with non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, and magnesium and is done at a temperature that puts the metal between its liquid and solid states, which leads to reduced shrinkage, tight tolerances and porous-free material. The process combines the advantages of casting and forging, according to the company.

Speeches came from professionals, experts, and leaders from the School of Materials Science & Engineering at University of Science & Technology Beijing, School of Manufacturing Science & Engineering at Sichuan University, and the Manufacturing Engineering Institute of ZTE Corporation.

After continuous efforts using industry-university-research cooperation since the company's establishment in 1997, Runxingtai Electrical Equipment is now ranked highest in China in terms of invention patents authorization, preparation technology, and industrialization.

This has contributed to Zhuhai's remarkable achievements made in the advanced equipment manufacturing sector, according to an expert.

For instance, the China-made amphibious aircraft AG600, the largest of its kind, developed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) is about to launch its maiden flight in Zhuhai since it has passed official technical quality assessment after it was assembled in Jinwan District last July.
