Zhuhai highlights university-enterprise cooperation

Zhuhai's vocational education and talents were held in the spotlight from Dec 4 to 5, at a conference focusing on the city's manufacturing industry and facilitating exchanges and cooperation between schools and enterprises.
Sponsored by the Guangdong Vocational Training and Technical Education Association and the Guangdong Yuehe Business Communication and Energy Conservation Promotion Center, the event attracted more than 600 attendees, including teachers and students from Guangdong colleges and universities, and representatives from some 200 enterprises.

A forum and conference focusing on the Chinese manufacturing industry and facilitating exchanges and cooperation between schools and enterprises is held from Dec 4 to 5 in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province.
President Fang Changui of the Guangdong Vocational Training and Technical Education Association said the exchange conference aims to establish a platform which serves the whole industrial chain covering the demand side, supply side and service side, as well as reaching cross-border cooperation.
Pan Jiluan, a professor at Tsinghua University and academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that vocational education and craftsmanship constitute an important part of building China into a strong manufacturer.

A liberal but strict atmosphere of vocational education should be created for professionals in various fields, Pan said.
In recent years, Zhuhai has been striving to promote vocational education and craftsmanship, aiming to push the construction of Made in China to a new level.
Vocational colleges should unite with enterprises to create a sound environment for innovation-minded talents and inspire creativity in young people, Gree Presidnet Dong Mingzhu said in a video interview.
Concerted efforts should be made to train skilled talents, said Yang Hongshan, vice director of Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province.
During the two-day event, the organizers also held an exchange fair and signing ceremony where many enterprises signed intents of cooperation with schools, paving a solid foundation for further development.
