Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

The opening ceremony of the Xiangzhou District Citizen Lifelong Learning Week was held at Ningxi Cultural Plaza in Zhuhai of Guangdong province on Dec 2, with more than 500 people taking part.

The fourth week-long learning activity promotes community education and lifelong learning among local residents across the whole district, and is organized by the district's elder university and community colleges. 

Themed "Culture educates people, Knowledge prospers families," a variety of learning events, including lectures, free education and skill training, will be held in every community of the district. 

The fourth Xiangzhou District Citizen Lifelong Learning Week activity opens on Dec 2 at Ningxi Cultural Plaza. 

In recent years, Xiangzhou authorities have attached a great deal of importance to community education and organized all kinds of educational activities targeting all ages and covering a variety of topics such as culture, health care, social etiquette, fire protection and popular science.

Xiangzhou District was identified as a pilot zone for community education in Central China's Guangdong province early in 2015, and was made a national one by the Ministry of Education in April, 2016. 

Data reveal that more than 600,000 local residents join in the online or offline community education every year to improve their sense of culture and happiness.
