Zhuhai's signature landscape Lovers Avenue in Xiangzhou District is set to become even more popular now that Xianglu Bay, Fenghuang Bay and Haibin beaches have been restored along its 28-km coastline.
The Lovers Avenue, stretching along the eastern coastline of the city is one of the top 10 landscapes in the Pearl River Delta with rich greenery and pretty flowers lining the winding road.
Over the past few years an extensive program to restore and beautify the area with upgrades have been made to beaches and surrounding coastal habitats.
Xianglu Bay Beach has become another of many calling cards of Zhuhai. It has undergone a series of renovations which borrowed the same methodology used in creating Barcelona's man-made beaches. The iconic artificial island off the coast of Zhuhai begins 260-m west of the statue of the Fisher Maiden and sprawls 1,500-m northwards to the junction of East Dongfeng Road, shaped like the Chinese character "凹, āo " meaning concave.

The project won the China Habitat Environment Prize this year, the highest honor in this field.
Similar construction has been carried out on the other two beaches. Haibin Beach, dubbed the City Parlor, now has additional attractions with the building of the Love Post Office, Happy Hour Pagoda, Watch Tower and Music Fountain. The location is now perfect for wedding photographs.
Works to strengthen the coastal locations have proved very useful in the wake of typhoons Pakhar and Hato in August this year, the latter being the strongest typhoon in more than 53 years to hit Zhuhai.
The avenue is now an ideal site for sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, and many kinds of water fun. Haibin Beach alone registers 3 million visitors every year, according to statistics.
