Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Zhuhai released a primary list of its outstanding governance cases for 2017 on Nov 22, which includes eight cases from Xiangzhou District.

Entries were included in 10 categories such as government management, social organizations, and grassroots governance.

On the list were one Xiangzhou district-level, three sub-district, and three community-level projects as well as the successful practice of a social organization from CuiXiang sub-district.

The neighborhood committee of Fushi Community in Qianshan sub-district was recognized for its new-type grassroots governance. According to an official, an intelligent online service platform was established to release notices, provide early warning systems, as well as a panoramic map of the community.

The platform is also capable of collecting to-be-handled community affairs and provides an online channel to discuss solutions. Offline negotiation platforms were combined to allow a democratic self-governance for residents in the community. Under the cooperation of social work service agencies and coordinated by Party members, the community consultation mechanism has so far proved very effective.

Xiangzhou is pioneering to become a national pilot area for community governance. Many of the practical measures from its service innovation have been adopted for nationwide application.
