Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai demonstrated 21 of this year's public-benefit projects on Nov 5 to increase public awareness and gain support before the projects are implemented.
The projects providing social services to diverse groups of people have different focuses on community-based governance, safeguarding and improving livelihoods, and philanthropy.
An input of more than 5 million yuan ($756,970) was made to ensure smooth operations. The District Party committee and the local government are showing great concern for the yearly program, building a coordinated effort in which teams are trained, consulted and guided.
Each project was showcased on the ground floor of The Mall Zhuhai on No 338 North Mingzhu Road. Posters, pamphlets and interactions helped to achieve desired promotional effects, according to an organizer, with more than 300 citizens involved.
A program for hearing-impaired teenagers attracted a great deal of attention. The project provides for youngsters to be taught with photography by professional photographers to enhance their vision and cultivate their aesthetic capacity, according to a project leader.
Officials announced that executing agencies have advanced the projects from preparatory to middle stage, and will launch them soon.
