Dancing brings Xiangzhou to its feet

A dance festival and a duo of competitions bathed Xiangzhou residents in rhythmic revelry from Oct 27 to 28.
The festival, themed "Dancing to Happiness", got underway on the evening of Oct 27 with some 500 residents making up 15 teams taking part in a mass square dancing (guangchang wu) event at Ningxi culture square.
An audience of more than 1,000 people gathered to watch the happy feet and swaying arms of those taking part.
On Oct 28 the second cultural activity, a dancing competition, was staged, entitled "Dancing Xiangzhou". A team from Xiangwan area took home the championship out of 17 select teams after the exciting contest.

To better expose residents to culture and arts, the Xiangzhou District government and related departments involved have been stepping up efforts to strengthen cultural construction by organizing cultural activities all year round.
Dancers selected from the multiple competitions told the stories of Xiangzhou with their graceful moves, representing the positive outlook of the people with their utmost zeal and gracefulness.
This year's dancing activities started from Oct 17 and will last December.
