Gree Electric Appliances, the world-leading Chinese appliance manufacturer based in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai in Guangdong took only nine days to complete the recovery to 100 percent production capacity of its plant headquarters.
Jinwan District, located southwest of Xiangzhou is where this year's strongest typhoon Hato made landfall, on Aug 23. The destructive power hasn’t been seen in 53 years and was intensified with the rage of Typhoon Pakhar arriving in Taishan on Aug 27.
Fierce winds and torrential rain caused power failures and disruptions in water and internet supply for all industrial zones across Zhuhai, severely damaging manufacturing facilities at Gree's subsidiaries and suppliers.
Responding actively in a short time, 400 executives and managers and thousands of workers constituted a special committee set up for post-disaster reconstruction. Chairman of Gree Dong Mingzhu inspected situations to give specific arrangement orders
A senior operator at Zhuhai Gree Electric had forecast 20 days at least for their factories to come back online but the actual time was reduced by more than half, thanks to concerted efforts and the sense of responsibility each employee shoulders.
During home recovery and rebuilding, Gree sent more than 3,000 people, and 200 engineering vehicles, to participate in the city's road cleanup and other relief works.
