Typhoon-recovery fund in place for Xiangzhou

The majority of Typhoon affected enterprises in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai have resumed production with water and power supply resuming as of 6:00 pm Aug 29. Relief and recovery works are still in full swing.

Because of this month's two typhoons, Xiangzhou's Nanping Science and Technology Park and Hongwan Commerce, Trade & Logistics Center were seriously damaged, affecting key enterprises including Zhuhai Singyes Green Building Technology, Gree Electronic Appliances and Baian Logistics. So far, 90 percent of them have received assistance.

Tireless efforts have been dedicated to repairs and rebuilding over the past few days.

An Aug 28 to 29 cleaning drive in the district called on involved more than 4,000 officials, enterprise staff members, and volunteers. They participated in the Lovers Avenue and removing debris on roads.

In place is the first batch of aid funds worth 21 million yuan ($3.2 million) rolled out in the district. The money is provided for cleaning roads cleaning, purchasing relief supplies, repairing municipal facilities, sanitary disinfection as well as for needy families.

Still, there are more than 5,000 people daily arranged to carry out post-disaster restoration.
