The high-profile display of Gree's latest intelligent manufacturing equipment, including industrial and service robots and steam car wash machines made an impact at a Foshan trade fair from Aug 28 to 30.

Gree Intelligent Equipment, based in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai in Guangdong, has attended the Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Investment & Trade Symposium for the Western Pearl River Region for the past three years, after its parent company entered the field in 2012.

Gree Electric Appliances hopes to catch industry trends against the backdrop of Made in China 2025 as well as extend its success in household appliances to other sectors.

Gree and other key enterprises are in the limelight to tell of their most remarkable achievements at the annual investment & trade symposium event.

The debut of Gree's five-axis numerically-controlled machine tool attracted a great deal attention. The self-developed product is said to be the only means to process impeller, blade, marine propeller, and large diesel engine crankshafts.

The number of similar units created domestically is no more than five, according to a company executive. And it is of great significance to the development of aviation, aerospace, military, scientific research, precision instruments, and high precision medical equipment.

One of the highlights is an independently developed robot which can catch and shoot a basketball. Visitors to the fair can challenge the robot to a shoot-out, but the robot will always win because it has a 100 percent hit rate.

The precise and flexible skill is due to the highly-accurate visual positioning system which ensures a margin of error less than 0.03 mm. The robot is widely applied in assembly, coating, spraying and handling.

Growing into an industry leader, Gree has developed nearly 100 types of automated products across 10 sectors such as intelligent automatic guided vehicles (AGV) and injection manipulators with more than 20 design patents obtained.

By far, Gree has accumulated output of more than 5,500 sets of automated equipment valued at 2.5 billion yuan ($378.4 million), taking the fifth largest market share in China, according to the company.
