The Xiangzhou government issued a set of rules and regulations on July 26 concerning attracting talent to the district and supporting them with greater material rewards.

With a wide coverage, the policy outlines an all-around awarding system for outstanding talent including national-identified scientists to returned scholars and even skilled workers.

For example, those entitled Excellent Young Talent can apply for an annual subsidy of 15,000 yuan ($2,230) for up to three years. Those identified as Skilled Talent are eligible for an extra 10,000 yuan ($1,487) per year for up to two years.

Xiangzhou issues a series of policies on July 26 to provide big incentives to encourage more talent to the district.

With regards to living conveniences, personnel meeting certain requirements will have extra care taken in making sure their family is comfortable as well as preferential medical treatment.

Those eligible must be able to prove that they work for a Xiangzhou enterprise which has an independent legal qualification, is registered and pays tax within the district.

The rules are the latest in an attempt by the Xiangzhou government to perfect their policies towards the treatment of talented foreign workers.

Earlier this year, the government published the Measures on Innovative Development of Xiangzhou District, specifying a package of preferential policies including increased investment to attract talent.

Last year, almost 2,800 employees in Xiangzhou were granted with rewards totaling 40 million yuan ($6 million). Beneficiaries included 700 high-level talents, one Nobel Prize winner, 12 experts from the Thousand Talent Program and one scientist in the Ten-Thousand Talents Program.
