Zhuhai-based Gree has topped the list of central air-conditioning brands in China for the sixth time with an overwhelming market share of 18.1 percent.

The ranking was released by HVAC News via the Report on Development of the China Central Air-Conditioning Market for H1 in 2017.

The report shows that the domestic central air-conditioning market has witnessed an increase of 25 percent in the first half of the year. Gree's unitary air conditioners ranked first with market share of 18.1 percent, the sixth time for the leading company to take the crown.

Domestic well-known brands including Gree, Midea and Haier took the lead in the rankings with a total market share of 41.8 percent. Hisense, Aux and Chigo followed the first three leading companies on list.

In recent years, Gree has been striving to explore the overseas market and promote its products through by bidding for many international major projects.

Gree will serve as the only cooling facilities supplier with its LHE high-efficiency water-cooled screw chiller for the Mordovia Arena in Russia, the venue for 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Valued at 45.4 billion yuan ($6.75 billion), Gree Electric Appliances took 14th place on a list released by China Trademark Research Institute on June 26 to appraise the value of trademarks and brands of companies listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange. It was ranked first in the list for home appliances.
