Xiangzhou District held a working conference recently to summarize its achievements in weeding out counterfeit products in 2016.

Last year, Xiangzhou inspected more than 1,735 places including businesses, stores, publishing houses, cultural and recreational venues and medical organizations and filed 105 cases of infringement and fraud, as well as hunted down 1,780 counterfeit items worth 480,700 yuan ($71,488).

The district has spent 22.7 million yuan ($3.38 million) on preventing counterfeiting, the investment paying off after inspections on five batches of industrial products passed with a 100 percent success rate recently.

Meanwhile, Xiangzhou Administration of Industry & Commerce has also attached great importance to food safety, organizing several inspections at schools, on infant food, dietary supplements and medicines.

Of the 307 batches of food samples that were inspected, 98.4 percent passed, and of 150 batches of medicine inspected, 99.33 percent came out successfully.

Xiangzhou has also beefed up efforts to crack down on counterfeit products coming in to Gongbei Port to uphold the positive image of China, since it's an important widow to foreign counties.
